In the novel, Zhuge Liang embarked on campaigns against the Kingdom of Wei several times to fulfil and uphold Liu Bei’s dying wish of defeating the Cao family and restoring the Han Dynasty. However, each of the campaigns ended up in a failure with Zhuge Liang perishing due to illness in the final battle. However, historical records indicate that Zhuge Liang had only embarked on five expeditions instead of six, and only participated in the first and fourth campaigns.
