The Battle of Fancheng (fictitious stories 22)

In the Battle of Fancheng, Guan Yu’s fame and prestige was greatly enhanced when he directed the battle against Wei and scored a major victory by flooding the seven armies of Wei. In fact, there were heavy showers in that period of autumn which caused the Han River to overflow, so Guan Yu led the naval troops to attack the enemy, defeating the famous Wei general Yu Jin and slaying Pang De. In the novel, Guan Yu was also hit in the arm by a poisoned arrow and the legendary physician Hua Tuo cured his arm by performing surgery. In history, Hua Tuo was already dead for two years and the surgery was performed by an ordinary military physician.
